The fourth day of the first UCPM Exchange of Young Firefighters, organised by the Fire University in cooperation with the European Commission's Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), focused on practical workshops delivered by Fire University students and on international exchange of knowledge and experience.
The day began with technical workshops organised by the Search and Rescue Student Club of the Fire University. The students introduced participants to search and rescue equipment, operational techniques and practical aspects of search and rescue operations. The workshops provided an excellent opportunity for young firefighters from different countries to exchange knowledge while showcasing the practical skills developed by Fire University students.
Later in the day, participants attended a workshop on the role of young people in strengthening societal preparedness and resilience. The session encouraged discussions on youth engagement in civil protection and provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices from across Europe.
The afternoon concluded with participant presentations, during which the young firefighters introduced their fire and rescue services, organisations and training institutions. They presented the structure of their organisations, training systems and operational responsibilities, allowing participants to gain valuable insight into the diversity of fire and rescue services across Europe.
The fourth day once again demonstrated the value of learning from one another. Workshops delivered by students for fellow students created a unique environment for sharing practical knowledge, building international friendships and strengthening the cooperation that lies at the heart of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
