The third day of the first UCPM Exchange of Young Firefighters, organised by the Fire University in cooperation with the European Commission's Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), focused on showcasing the educational and training potential of the Fire University and the Polish fire and rescue system.
Participants attended presentations introducing the Polish State Fire Service, the Fire University, and the National Firefighting and Rescue System (KSRG), gaining an overview of their structure, responsibilities and operational principles.
The young firefighters then visited the Fire University's Fire and Rescue Unit, where they learned about its equipment, operational organisation and the facilities used to train future officers of the Polish State Fire Service.
An important part of the programme was a series of visits to the University's specialised laboratories. The Medical Rescue Laboratory was presented by Col. Karina Jarosławska-Kolman, who introduced participants to modern approaches to teaching qualified first aid and emergency medical rescue. The Hydrodynamics Laboratory was presented by CPT Mateusz Urbańczyk, who discussed fire hydraulics and the equipment used in practical training. Participants also visited the Chemical Rescue Laboratory, where 1LT Sebastian Staszko, demonstrated the University's training capabilities in responding to incidents involving hazardous substances.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and present the Fire University's modern educational infrastructure to participants from 18 countries, highlighting the methods used to educate future officers of the Polish State Fire Service.
The UCPM Exchange of Young Firefighters continues to provide a unique platform for international cooperation, the exchange of best practices and the development of the next generation of European firefighters.
