On June 11, 2024, the general assembly of the members of the European Fire Service Colleges' Association (EFSCA) took place at the Fire University in Warsaw.

The event was preceded by a conference titled  “International cooperation - a mechanism to enhance the training quality of firefighting services”.

The conference was opened by the president of EFSCA, Arvid Graeger. This was followed by a ceremonial raising of the flags of Poland, the European Union, and EFSCA. It is a tradition of EFSCA conferences to display the association's flag alongside the EU and host country flags, symbolizing our shared goal of knowledge exchange and establishing a foundation for cooperation. The cadets from the Fire Academy made this moment truly special.

During the conference, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between EFSCA and the Federation of European Fire Officers (FEU). Both organizations share the common mission of enhancing fire services through the exchange of experiences, information, and education.

The event was attended by a representative of the Main Headquarters of the State Fire Service, Maj. Rafał Sołowin. He presented EFSCA members with insights into Poland's international activities in the field of civil protection, discussed experiences gained during numerous disasters in Europe, and preparations for the international Fenix exercises.

Artur Malantanowicz, the leader of the EU Civil Protection Knowledge Network team, presented the work of the European Commission's Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO). He spoke about the opportunities created by this mechanism and participation in its activities.

The event provides an excellent opportunity for the exchange of experiences and the improvement of international cooperation in firefighter training. We are delighted to host such distinguished specialists and representatives of various institutions involved in civil protection. The Fire University in Warsaw proudly supports initiatives that contribute to the enhancement of training quality and cooperation at the international level.
