Visit of the Swedish Delegation to the Fire University

On March 11, 2026, the Fire University hosted a delegation from Sweden. This visit constituted an essential element in strengthening the strategic Polish-Swedish cooperation in the areas of security, civil defense, and civil protection. The main objective of the meeting was to exchange experiences and present the educational and operational potential of the Fire University. During the discussions, issues related to civil protection were detailed, along with civil protection and civil defense training programs conducted by the university, dedicated to local government representatives.

As part of the study visit, short thematic presentations were delivered, which covered:

  • the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in operational and rescue activities,
  • the functioning and capabilities of the Rescue Training Centre, Logistics and Development Base,
  • the premises and development of the European DSM-POLAND project (Development of the rescEU CBRN Detection, Sample collection, Identification and Monitoring), which aims to build a highly specialized module for responding to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats.

Furthermore, the Swedish side provided a container shelter to the Fire University, which will be utilized in the didactic process, serving educational and training purposes.

The Swedish delegation included:

  • Mr. Carl-Oskar Bohlin – Minister for Civil Defence of Sweden,
  • Ms. Cornelia Norman – Press Secretary,
  • Mr. Per Bolinder – Policy Director,
  • Ms. Annika Elmgart – Director at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency,
  • Col. Anders Stach – Attaché.

The Polish side was represented by:

  • Mr. Wiesław Leśniakiewicz – Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration,
  • Mr. Robert Klonowski – Deputy Director of the Civil Protection and Crisis Management Department,
  • Commander-in-Chief of the State Fire Service Brigadier General Wojciech Kruczek,
  • Rector-Commandant of the Fire University Brigadier General omasz KLIMCZAK, PhD Fire Eng., University Professor,
  • Vice-Rector for Education and Students Col. Tomasz Zwęgliński , D.Sc. Fire Eng., University Professor,
  • Mr. Adrian Bucałowski – Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department of the National HQ of the State Fire Service.

The visit of the Swedish representatives provided a valuable platform for the exchange of expert knowledge and contributed to the further development of joint initiatives for security.
