From March 23rd to 27th, students from our university, SSG. Cadet Szymon Bleks, Stanisław Bolek i SFC. Cadet Maciej Tatys participated in a mobility program carried out under Erasmus+. he visit took place at the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences (Sisekaitseakadeemia) in Tallinn, as well as at its affiliated training centres and rescue units in Estonia.
During their stay, the students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the Estonian rescue and civil protection system. The schedule was very intensive and divided into theoretical and practical blocks. On the first day, the participants were officially welcomed and given a guided tour of the Academy campus.
The following days were devoted to fieldwork and practical training. At the training centre in Väike-Maarja, the students took part in ATV off-road driving sessions, as well as exercises in chemical and environmental rescue (Hazardous Materials Response).
A particularly valuable element of the visit was job shadowing—observing work in specific command and expert positions. The students accompanied an expert specializing in search and rescue operations and high-angle rescue. The next day in Tallinn, they observed the work of a Field Supervisor at the Estonian Rescue Board. On the final day of the visit, they toured the Estonian Firefighting Museum and the Kesklinna rescue station.
This visit was not only an excellent opportunity for personal development and acquiring specialist knowledge, but above all it enabled the establishment of international contacts with Estonian rescuers and experts.
