From 25 to 29 May 2026, students of the Fire University participated in a study visit organized under the Erasmus+ programme at Burgas State University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” in Bulgaria.
On the first day of their stay, participants had the opportunity to explore Burgas, one of the largest cities on the Black Sea coast. During the visit, they learned about the city's history, its most significant landmarks, and the contemporary character of the region.
The following day, the students attended a lecture entitled “Technical Safety and Disaster Protection”, delivered by Prof. Sabina Nedkova. The lecture focused on issues related to technical safety and disaster protection, providing participants with an insight into the solutions applied in Bulgaria in the fields of safety management and emergency response.
One of the most interesting elements of the programme was a visit to a fire station in Burgas. The meeting was led by Chief Inspector Asen Asenov, Head of the First Regional Fire Service in Burgas, together with officers of the unit. The students had the opportunity to learn about the organisation of the service, specialised rescue equipment, and procedures used during firefighting, rescue operations, and crisis response activities.
On Thursday, participants attended a cybersecurity lecture delivered by Petar Petrov from the Faculty of Computer Systems and Technologies. The session covered current cyber threats, data protection methods, and the importance of information security for the effective functioning of both public and private institutions.
The final day of the visit was devoted to exploring the university campus. Participants became familiar with its educational and research facilities and had the opportunity to exchange experiences with representatives of the host institution. The visit provided valuable opportunities to broaden knowledge, gain new experiences, and strengthen international cooperation within the Erasmus+ programme.
