From June 30 to July 4, 2025, officer cadets from the Fire University:

  • Magdalena Pietrzyk,
  • Alan Staręga,
  • Jakub Supeł,
  • Paweł Wołek,

participated in a student mobility project under the Erasmus+ programme, hosted by the Service Départemental d’Incendie et de Secours de Seine-et-Marne (SDIS 77).

During their visit, our students had a unique opportunity to exchange experiences with their French counterparts, compare equipment, and discuss rescue operation tactics.

Over the course of five intensive days, they observed the work of firefighters at SDIS 77 Headquarters, where they were introduced to the scope of duties performed by French firefighters, the organization of rescue operations within the district, and the principles of cooperation between different emergency services.

The officer cadets also took part in celebrations of the French National Firefighters’ Day, which included the unveiling of a plaque commemorating fallen firefighters and the presentation of new equipment purchased for the units.

They served on duty with Operational Groups, during which they responded to incidents, observed the work of French crews, and participated in professional training exercises.

The programme also included a visit to a training centre, allowing them to compare the firefighter training process, as well as to an emergency call and operations coordination centre, which supervises actions from the moment an incident is reported until its conclusion.

During their mobility, each participant had the opportunity to serve in units specializing in areas of their choice, such as:

  • Technical rescue;
  • Interior firefighting;
  • Water rescue;
  • Search and rescue operations.

Taking part in this programme allowed the officer cadets to gain a broader perspective not only on conducting rescue operations, but also on the entire process of organizing and commanding them.

It was an incredible time of knowledge and experience exchange, an opportunity to build lasting relationships, and a solid foundation for future international cooperation.
