Mr. Ireneusz Fajkis also met with the Fire University authorities to discuss potential areas of future cooperation and exchange experiences in the field of rescue operations.
The highlight of the visit was a lecture on PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) and the BHAP (Behavioral Health Assistance Program).
During the lecture, emphasis was placed on the development of psychological assistance and mental and emotional support systems, which underscore the importance of addressing issues related to the social functioning of firefighters. It was discussed how negative professional experiences, particularly those related to traumatic events during rescue operations, can spill over into firefighters’ personal lives, affecting their relationships and mental health. Thanks to initiatives like the BHAP program, increasing attention is being given to providing psychological support for rescuers, both in their work and personal lives.
We sincerely thank Mr. Ireneusz Fajkis for visiting and sharing his knowledge and experience with the academic community.
