In the first half of May, Zuzanna Wojenka from the Department of Postgraduate Studies, Courses, and Training Organization at Fire University participated in staff mobility for training at the partner institution –  Universidade Lusófona in Lisbon, Portugal, organized under the Erasmus+ program. The aim of the mobility was to improve qualifications, exchange experiences, gain new knowledge about administrative processes, and maintain good cooperation with Universidade Lusófona.

The university was visited by several Erasmus+ fellowship recipients at the same time. The group was diverse — participants represented various departments such as deans’ offices, IT, and HR — which allowed for the exchange of experiences from different areas of university operations.

Universidade Lusófona features modern architecture and an innovative campus, including a dedicated artistic sector: a film department with professional equipment, its own cinema, and specialized spaces for classes. Erasmus+ participants observed practical classes in clothing design, animation and 3D design, conducted using advanced equipment. One could feel the unique atmosphere on campus – full of greenery, openness, diversity of people and even the presence of animals.

Conversations with employees of Universidade Lusófona allowed us to identify similarities and differences in the administrative structure of the university and the organization of teaching processes in Portugal and Poland. The exchange of good practices and discussion of everyday administrative challenges were very helpful and inspiring.

The Erasmus+ exchange was also a unique opportunity to get to know Portuguese culture and the people of Lisbon.

Zuzanna could not only see the operations of a foreign university, but also get to know a new country, people and culture. It is a great opportunity to overcome fears, to try something new and broaden horizons!
