At the beginning of January, Col. Szymon Ptak, Head of the Department of Fire Engineering, participated in an academic staff mobility under the Erasmus+ programme. The training programme focused on improving the professional skills of academic staff, in particular in the area of research on the explosibility parameters of combustible dusts. The visit to the Faculty of Safety Engineering at the VSB – Technical University of Ostrava (Fakulta bezpečnostního inženýrství, VŠB – Technická univerzita Ostrava) further strengthened the long-standing scientific cooperation between the two academic institutions and was also significant from the perspective of international cooperation. As a member of the Erasmus+ Programme Team at the Fire University, Col. Szymon Ptak had the opportunity to meet with the local team responsible for Erasmus+ matters. During a meeting with the Faculty Erasmus+ Coordinator, Ms Veronika Meca, discussions were held on past and current student and staff exchanges between the institutions. The participants debated the current opportunities and limitations of the Erasmus+ programme, as well as the impact of socio-economic conditions in individual countries on student mobility.
From the perspective of the Erasmus+ programme at the Fire University, the university in Ostrava is a strategic partner, as evidenced by the long-standing and multidimensional cooperation between the two institutions. Never before have universities within the European Union had access to such a powerful tool as the Erasmus+ programme, which enables the development of international cooperation potential.
During the mobility, new ideas for expanding future cooperation were also discussed.
