Visit of Polish and Norwegian Delegations to the Fire University

On 11 December 2025, the Fire University hosted representatives of Norwegian institutions responsible for civil protection and civil defence. The purpose of the visit was to present the tasks and role of the Fire University within the national security system, with particular emphasis on its educational, research and training potential, as well as to discuss the University’s development directions in the context of future challenges.

The Polish side was represented by:

  • Mr Wiesław Leśniakiewicz – Undersecretary of State, Ministry of the Interior and Administration
  • BG Wojciech Kruczek – Commander-in-Chief of the State Fire Service
  • BG Grzegorz Szyszko – Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the State Fire Service
  • BG Tomasz Klimczak – Rector-Commandant of the Fire University
  • Mr Michał Pawłowski – Director of the Department of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Ministry of the Interior and Administration
  • Ms Magdalena Zdrojewska – Deputy Director of the Department of European Funds, Ministry of the Interior and Administration
  • Mr Konstanty Szułdrzyński, MD, PhD – Deputy Director for Medical Affairs, National Medical Institute of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration
  • Ms Katarzyna Nowak – Senior Specialist, DSMiM

The Norwegian side was represented by:

  • Commissioner Øistein Knudsen – Director General of the Norwegian Civil Defence
  • Mr Øystein Bø – Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway
  • Ms Marina Skuggedal – Head of the Competence and Recruitment Department
  • Mr Per Willy Bårdsen – Civil Defence Inspector, Assistant to the Commissioner
  • Ms Aleksandra Wacko – Counsellor for Norwegian Funds, Royal Norwegian Embassy

During the meeting, the delegations were introduced to the activities of the Fire University, including its education programmes, research structure and projects implemented in support of civil protection. The University’s development plans in the fields of civil defence, crisis management and the training of specialised personnel for the needs of the state were also presented.

The visit constituted an important step towards strengthening international cooperation and exchanging experiences in the development of a modern and effective civil protection system.
